Mazda Canada is headquartered in Richmond Hill, Ontario. It was established in 1968. It also has regional offices in Montreal and Vancouver. Mazda Canada doesn’t manufacture vehicles locally. It is only responsible for sales and marketing, customer service and parts support.
Mazda started as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd in Hiroshima, Japan in January 1920. It started producing Toyo machine tools in 1929. The first production vehicle Mazda-go, a three-wheeled truck, came out in 1931. It introduced its first 2-door passenger car Mazda R360 Coupe in 1960. The car was an instant success. Since then, the company hasn’t looked back. During the 60s and 70s, it had success with cars like Carol 600, E2000, Cosmo Sports, Capella (RX-2), Cosmo, Familia, Luce Regard, Savanna RX-7, Capella and more. The company name was officially changed to Mazda in 1984.
