The Doge Brothers Company was founded by Horace and John Dodge in 1900 in Detroit, Michigan. Initially, the company supplied precision engines and chassis components for more established Olds Motor Company (later to become Oldsmobile) and the new Ford Motor Company. In 1914, the company produced its first car the Model 30. By 1916, Model 30 was the second most popular car after Ford’s Model T. But both Dodge brothers died in 1920 and the company’s sales started to slip. The company was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928. Dodge brand continued to create cars under the Chrysler banner. Dodge D11, Custom, and Coronet are some of its offerings during World War II and the post-war period. Today Dodge is known for its muscles cars like Charger, Challenger, and Viper. It also sells SUVs like Journey, Grand Caravan, and Durango.
