Honda Canada Inc. is the parent company of Honda and Acura brand in Canada. It was founded in 1969, and currently, it has two manufacturing plants that produce cars and light trucks. It also has a manufacturing facility dedicated to engines only. Honda Canada has invested $3.9 billion in Canada. It has produced over 7 million cars and trucks in Canadian manufacturing plants since 1986.
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. was founded by Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa. Its first product “Dream” D-type motorcycle was introduced in 1949. In 1959, Honda established its first overseas subsidiary in Los Angeles, California to become a great success later. It had sold more than 1M units by 1968. The next year, Honda introduced its first car Honda N600. In 1974, Honda created the CVCC engine for the Civic to meet the strict emission standards of the new regulations from the U.S. Clean Air Act. and started selling it. Later in 1976, Honda introduced its iconic car the Honda Accord and ten years later the Acura Division was created.
