In 2020, even with the COVID19 pandemic impact, Ford Canada sold 284,000 units, compared to 300,367 in 2019. Ford owned, again, nearly 16 percent of the Canadian vehicle market and ranks as the most popular brand in the country. In the same time period, Ford sold 2,464,041 units in the US market, while globally, Ford moved an industry volume of 9 million vehicles.

Ford Motor Company of Canada was founded in 1904 - almost a year after the establishment of the Ford Motor Company in the US. Initially, it was not a subsidiary of its US counterpart. The US company only owned 13 percent of the Canadian company. After World War II, Ford Motor Company gained major control of the Ford Motor Company of Canada and moved its headquarters to Oakville, Ontario.
