Ford Motor Company of Canada was founded in 1904 - almost a year after the establishment of the Ford Motor Company in the US. Initially, it was not a subsidiary of its US counterpart. The US company only owned 13 percent of the Canadian company. After World War II, Ford Motor Company gained major control of the Ford Motor Company of Canada and moved its headquarters to Oakville, Ontario. It opened a plant in Oakville in 1953 and another plant in Talbotville in 1967. Today Ford Canada is one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in the country.
Henry Ford started the Henry Ford Company in 1901. However, due to disputes, he left the company and it was converted to Cadillac Motor Company. In 1903, he started a new venture called the Ford Motor Company in Detroit which is the seed of the current vehicle manufacturer. In 1908, the affordable Model T was introduced and during the next two decades, 15 million units were sold. Ford introduced the assembly line to vehicle production which revolutionized manufacturing. Today Ford is known for its heavy-duty F-150 trucks and other vehicles like Mustang, Focus, Edge, Explorer, and more.
