In 2020, even with the COVID19 pandemic impact, Genesis sold 1,400 cars in Canada, compared to 525 during 2019. This was the third year of the brand in the country. In the same period, Genesis sold 20,594 vehicles in the United States.
Genesis Canada is operating under the Hyundai Auto Canada group. Hyundai Auto Canada is based in Markham, Ontario.
Genesis Motors is the luxury brand of the South Korean Hyundai Motor Group. It started as a concept car in 2007. Peter Schreyer, the creative director of Hyundai-Kia, is credited for pioneering the Genesis concept. The US, South Korea, the Middle East, and China are the primary target markets for this luxury brand. It has already released the G70, G80, and G90. The plan is to have a total of six models by the year 2020.
