Ram Trucks became an independent brand in 2010. Before that, it was part of Dodge Ram line of pickups. The first-generation Ram pickups were introduced in 1981 with the Ram hood ornament that was used on Dodge vehicles in 1933. These vehicles were based on Dodge D-Series pickups. The first-generation Ram trucks used similar designation like Ford — 150 for a one-half-ton truck, 250 for a three-quarter-ton truck and 350 for a one-ton truck. The next generation Ram trucks went through an external redesign as well as internal updates. Ram trucks have evolved over the years. Today Ram offers 1500, 2500, 3500, Chassis Cab and Promaster models.
