The Acura brand in Canada is sold under Honda Canada Inc., established in 1969 and the brand was launched in 1987. Acura sells the SX, RDX, TL, RL, ZDX and MDX models in Canada. The ZDX and MDX are manufactured in the Honda plant located in Alliston, Ontario. More than half a million Acura cars and vehicles have been sold in Canada since and currently, the brand has 51 stores across the country.
In 1986, Acura was started by Honda engineers to create luxury cars under a different name than Honda itself. It began its journey with the Integra and Legend models. In 1989, it introduced the sports car model NSX. Acura entered into the luxury crossover SUV market after the SUV boom of the '90s with the "2000 Acura MDX".
