Best New Car Deals in Canada: October 2018

Explore This Month's Best Car Deals on our most recent market review.

Halloween, falling leaves, rain and even a crazy 35cm snowfall in Calgary that created a severe amount of crashes... this is just Canada and winter is not yet here. Anyway, we need to hit the road every day, and we need a car to do so. Here, our monthly report with the best new car deals in Canada for October 2018.

Electric Vehicle Best New Car Deals

EV will be jumping into the masses more and more every year. If you are not in a rush and are seriously considering electric vehicle (EV) alternatives, there are two outstanding candidates:

Best New Car Deals Canada October 2018: Tesla Model 3

The Model 3 is the top #5 selling car in the U.S. in 2018. Not just EV: the #5 among all car models.

  • Tesla Model 3: Available in Canada since a few months ago, the Model 3 has gone from the #1 selling EV in the U.S. to be one of the top 5 selling Sedans. (#1 - Toyota Camry - #2 Honda Civic - #3 Honda Accord - #4 Toyota Corolla - #5 Tesla Model 3). That's it. Plus that a few days ago the NHTSA was reporting that the Model 3 is the safest vehicle ever tested in their crash studies. In the article, you can read further.
  • The All-new 2019 Audi Etron. And finally, Audi has jumped into the EV game. With a maximum tow capacity of 4,000lb and making 0 to 100 in 5.5s, the MSRP for the base trim should start between 95,000-100,000CAD. The all-new Etron can be reserved now with a 1,000CAD deposit.

Most Attractive Offer in October 2018

I would love to say it is the Audi Q5, but it is not a car most people can afford (if you can pay it, go for it). Although that would be my #1 suggestion for this month (it is featured later under the Luxury Vehicles)

Among all vehicles, the new 2019 Subaru Crosstrek is our top choice for this month. The Crosstrek comes with All-Wheels-Drive on the Base Model (as al Subaru vehicles are), won the 2018 Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS for 7th years in a row.

Compact / Small / Mid-size Best New Car Deals in Canada

This month, for the third time in a row, we have the new 2019 Jetta and the 2018 Accent:

2019 Volkswagen Jetta Trendline Automatic starting at 349CAD/month tax. inc.

Best Car Deals in Canada October 2018: Volkswagen Jetta

About 11 months ago, the prices for the 2017 Jetta dropped a lot, even taking into account that the new 2018 model wasn't expected to be released. At the same time, the expectation was increasing for the brand new redesign in the 2019 model that would see the market soon. Well, it was launched back in May and sales have jumped up like crazy. Funny thing, I was this week in Germany, and there is no a single new Jetta there: Volkswagen has very clear that compact sedans are for North America better than for themselves.

This October, the 2019 Jetta starts at 349CAD/month tax. inc. for a 5 years lease.

2018 Hyundai Accent Automatic starting at 308CAD/month tax. inc.

Best Car Deals in Canada October 2018: Hyundai Accent

And the 2018 Accent Automatic is this month available for only 308CAD/month tax. inc. for a 60 months contract (the default comprehensive warranty period of Hyundai Canada). The new 2019 model is coming to Canada very soon (it is available already in the U.S.) so stock needs to go away fast, and there is an excellent opportunity here ;)  ... if you were looking for a compact car.

The all-new 2019 Subaru Ascent (that we have been featuring since 2 months ago) can be leased starting at 663CAD/month tax. inc. for the 24 months lease. It is a terrific deal if you are looking for a 7-seater.

Repeating candidates, but very well deserved:

2018 Audi Q5 Quattro Automatic starting at 785CAD/month tax. inc. x 36 months

Best Car Deals in Canada October 2018: Audi Q5

The Audi Q5, the top-selling Luxury vehicle in Canada right before the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It starts this month at 785CAD/month tax. inc. when leased for 3 years, although the 4 years lease is not a bad idea. Audi Canada manufacturer warrant extends to 4 years... keep it in mind.

2019 Acura RDX Automatic starting at 778CAD/month tax. inc. x 36 months

Best Car Deals in Canada October 2018: Acura RDX

Once again, for the third time in a row, the redesigned 2019 Acura RDX comes to the top list. Excellent leasing incentives are leaving the model available at 778CAD/month tax. inc. in Québec, so expect it to be close to the 750 in Ontario and averaging 730 - 780 in the rest of Canada.
